When the Undead conquered the lands decades ago life changed for almost every being. Nations were eliminated, forests burned and the great wizard Lauriel, responsible for the balance of the elements, was trapped and prisoned. When your tribe had to leave his homelands years of war and death followed. The Undead traced your people out of every hiding place and the hunt did start again and again. After years of running away you enter the last valley - the valley of the river Barus. The Black Mountains in the north are the origin of all the suffer and death - the home of the Undead! The valley is also surrounded from the High Mountains in the northeast, the White Mountains in the south, the Desert Nam in the east and the Dwarves Valley in the northwest. The Inner Massive in the middle has once been the Empire of the Archons. Some small nation are still resisting against the evil forces. There is no place to hide again! So the time has come to fight the power of darkness.
Explore the lands, build armies and be perpared - the Undead hordes are just 30 days behind you!

Playability: 3
below average, didn't want to finish it
Balance: 2
Unbalanced starting positions. Can't comment on the later game as decided to stop playing
Creativity: 3
average, I did like the hall of elementals which was a good idea. Apart from that nothing new
Map Design: 3
Some parts were very plain and ugly, others where complete overkill which looked even worse like in the undead lands where ther are 4 volcanoes on top of each other surrounded by multiple steams. Most of it though was quite nice to look at.
Story/Instructions: 1
Events and signs were ok however this gets a 1 because there is no title, no story and no character discriptions!!! I don't know how the other reviewers gave it a 5 and a 4. Perhaps if they wrote something to justify their marks it would be better, however I don't even see any evidence that they even looked at the map let alone tried to play it.

This was a bit of an odd duck, I down loaded it on the strength of the reviews and I found I was a bit decieved. I did enjoy it but it wasnt quite in the high 4's In my opinon. I do remember seeing a lot of interesting things that I felt could be expanded upon. I also noticed some bugs as another reviewer posted that didnt really make any sense.
Balance: 3
Not quite as intended i would think. Some bugs led to unbalanced palying for the sides (i'm guessing bugs? as no explanation was present)
Creativity: 4
A good start certainly and I hope you come back to this one later on down the road. I thought this was a strong point.
Map Design: 3
Some of the areas did cause problems for the AI.
Story/Instructions: 3
Again, not what I was led to believe.
Additional Comments: I did enjoy this map, dont get me wrong. A few bugs and some polish were lacking. IMO it was not at the stage for the 5's it was getting. I know i'm being a bit vague but it has been a while since I played it in depth but I felt I should review it.

Damn hard to play. I played it three times with different people, twice with standard-settings, once with a "default" setting, giving the cats a 1000 Mana for starters and the "Angel"-Spell and the Elves also a 1000 Mana and the "golden Dragon"-Spell.
Balance: 3
Undead guy is far too strong, rest matches
Creativity: 5
Nothing new to say here, great map !
Map Design: 5
see above. The map gave me some ideas for my future maps
Story/Instructions: 4
average I would say, not too much, some triggers semm not to be working, therefore the "4".
Additional Comments:
Fine map ! Really a fine map ! |

Pretty hard, but doable if you work at it. A lot
of fun during the whole process.
Balance: 4
Hard, for single player. Well balances for PBEM,
though it will take forever.
Creativity: 5
Remarkable amount of work went into this map and
it shows.
Map Design: 5
Some people might say its too clutters, personally I like it.

Very fun map to play. And in the end that is what really matters.
Balance: 2
The three possible player positions are *not* balanced. I just finished the game after 60 turns, playing all the positions. The Draconian position conquered 2/3 of the surface and defeated most of the Undead's armies there, while the Elven position had not even completed their quest to summon an army, and was still far away from exploring the hidden Dwarven area.
The problem is that for the Draconian, with his flying heroes and units it's a short way between the various sites that needs to be visited, while for the Elves it's a long way and they have to move through the Halfling CPU player's area. So it's much easier for the Draconian player to summon a powerful hero and troops before turn 30.
I recommend playing the game as PBM or co-op, with the best player as the Elves and the weakest one as the Draconians.
Playing three positions I found the Undead to be too weak to be a real threat.
Creativity: 4
Map Design: 4
Lots to explore and lots of rivers and mountains to make the map strategic.
Some araes looked rather odd, though.
Story/Instructions: 3
There is a background story, but no descriptions of heroes and wizards.
Additional Comments:
Some bugs:
Draconians start with frostling pioneers.
Two of the nearest cities to the Draconian player have wrong population compared to the defenders. The one defended by draconians have human population and vice versa.
Lauriel was killed by the undead position despite the AI blocks. But his prison cell is inside the Undead guy's magical domain so it is possible he was killed by a spell.
All in all en excellent map, despite som minor bugs and som balance issues.
Map reminds me of Swolte's Fight For Light. I wonder if Swolte was ifluenced by this map?
