1. I do not own the copyright to any work represented here. These portraits were simply edited by me from sources submitted primarily on the /tg/ image board - as such, typically, the source of the file wasn't even known to begin with.
2. There is only 1 Syron portrait and there are 5 Shadow Demon portraits. After a substantial number of useable character art is emailed to me by the community I will release a "Shadow Magic portrait pack" focused on those two races.
3. Yes, the Frostlings are largely Inuits and skintone edits of character on snowy backgrounds.
4. Yes, David Bowie is in there. Twice.
Because of the lack of variety in wizard portraits available to the community, I put together a portrait pack that is both easy to use and covers the entire variety of races (exception: I could not find appropriate Syron shots), from character art collected from the /tg/ board over a long time by both myself and a couple other /tg/ AOWSM fans.
Unzip this into root/user or root/user/folder. Sampling over a dozen custom portraits is a pain when you are looking ingame, much less going through your entire collection. If this goes into root/user then the descriptive filenames in combination with the default folder position will make for the most efficient way to sample how portraits look in the customize wizard screen.
Normally I don´t like hero and wizard image packs from other mapmakers.
In first case because of the low quality of most of the included pictures.
I stop downloading new image packs because of this reason some time ago.
In second case because I don´t like to use work from another one that is maybe already used in a map.
Better create a new own and unused picture because every creature has it own face and there are not two of the same in this world.
I made up to 1000 images for wizards and heroes myself during the years and so I have a big pool of images and I only take images of good quality and style.
I know how hard it is to make masses of images and even harder to find images of good quality and size (for wizard pictures) on the web.
So often mapmakers resize until it really looks ugly and this leads to my point of view not to take a look anymore to other mapmakers image packs.
Today I give it a new try and was surprised.
I keep 81 from 125 images and this means this image pack contains some really nice pictures.
Even some good rare images for AoWSM use are included.
We know how hard it is to find faces for Tigrans, Syron and Shadowdeamons but even this races are supported with some pictures.
If I am allowed I want to give a little hint for the creators of wizard images.
Think about the look of the wizard ingame.
Think about AoWSM creates a black halo around the edges of the wizard picture ingame.
So if you push the wizards face (and the entire other important things) of a wizard cerature to far to the edge AoWSM will hide this details because of the ingame halo.
This often leads to wizard faces that don´t show the upper parts of the head of the wizard ingame.
Better draw the wizard a little bit down or resize the source image a little bit to get rid of the ingame halo.
All in all a well made picture pack.

Groll: thank you for your kind words. I wasn't sure but are you saying there is some clipping/cutoff issues with the portraits I posted? All the ones I tested did not have this issue but 1) it's been a while and 2) I obviously did not test them all.
I have found the fastest way to make the images is to create a series of macros that does all the resizing for you.
