His army destroyed and with his back to a wall, Soulclaw faces total defeat. The Alliance of Elves and Archons has defeated him in the field and almost all his strongholds have been thrown down.
The sharpest point is that Soulclaw has lost all his Wizards Towers and if he is killed now his spirit will be consumed and his evil will trouble the world no more.

Playability: 3
The map was fun but by no means gripping, one of the good things was that I was constantly under attack and having to fend off against enemies constantly.
Balance: 2
Although balance isn't really an issue in a single player map, it is important to note that the enemies greatly outnumber you and easily take your cities, given time, no matter how big your defence
Creativity: 2
The map was quite intersting but there were only 10 custom heoes, a handful of custom items (all too powerful)and no wizard descriptions or diplomancy messages which is what base creativity on.
Map Design: 4
There were some nice features on the map and the independentsin the forest were interesting. The map design wasn't perfect but it was reasonable.
Story/Instructions: 3
Occasional instructions without any sowing of who told them cropped up from time to time and the story was not particuarly imaginative or well told.

This review comes from the now closed site aow2battleground.com. My review system there was a bit different, but I've tried to translate the ratings as good as I can.

For those of you that have been looking for a challenging SP map : here it is.... It's not only challenging, it's close to impossible. The story is kind of a sequel to Alex's "Nomads" map, and now the evil wizard Soulclaw (you) and his forces has been wiped out almost totally. Soulclaw must save himself and then start rebuilding his empire.
You get a few hints what to do as you play, but even with those it's pretty hard to stay alive. It's not a map you win the first time you play it.
Balance : 7
Your enemies have armies all over the place, but you can still defend yourself quite well early in the game.
Graphic details : 6
Looks ok but nothing special.
Story/Instructions : 6
There's an opening story and some messages as you play, but there could be more. The wizard don't have any descriptions.
Customization : 6
About 10 heroes and 10 items are added to the default ones.
Creativity : 7
Map layout is very good. All sites have custom defenders and items, and there are a bunch of events that spice things up.
Fun : 6
It's kind of fun to follow the story while you try to survive and rebuild you empire. But after a while, you realize that your enemies are so powerful that it's almost ridicilous. A bit too hard for my taste, I like to win... :)
Bonus points :
Penalty points :
NOTE : This review was written for version 1.0 of the map. Alex made the map a bit easier in 1.2.

Playability: 5
I'm currently playing most of the single player user made maps in chronlogical order, and this one has been the most fun one so far.
Challenging, but not impossible.
Quite few cites means less tedious managents and very few nodes means having to conserve mana, which both are big pluses in my book.
Balance: 2
I think the player is supposed to explore the undeground, find a new HQ and attack the main enemy from behind, instead of a full frontal assault.
Unfortunately there are some quite tough stacks of independents which discouraged me from exploring the spider and dark elf infested undergrounds, so I only got my new HQ after having defeated the main enemy.
Creativity: 4
Some custom wizards and heroes.
I like the idea of rising again from the Ashes of Deafeat, but of course the timid AI makes it easier.
Map Design: 3
Map looks nice and realistic, but nothing spectacular.
Story/Instructions: 3
There are some instructions and some events.
Additional Comments:
The Dark Elf player seems to be too weak. He never expanded outside his little domain and never clashed with the main enemy.
Some independents killed three enemy heroes, which is always fun to watch.
