Importing AoW1 Music into AoW2

This step-by-step instruction was posted on the forums by Bman. Thanks!

Here is how I did it:

• Quit winamp.
• Click here and click the download link to download "Chun Yu's MP3 Writer plug-in" for winamp.
• Run the program and follow the directions to install it (I think it just wants to know where you got winamp installed).
• Start Winamp.
• Load your AOW songs into the playlist.
• Press Ctrl+P on the keyboard or use the winamp menu to display the preferences screen.
• Click on the tab for Plug-ins-Output. You should have a list of output plugins to choose from. Chun-Yu's MP3 Writer should be a choice. If it is not, then try restarting winamp. If it still is not a choice you have done something wrong.
• Make a note to yourself about which plugin is currently selected. You will need to remember it later.
• Select Chun-Yu's MP3 Writer plugin.
• Click Configure.
• Choose a directory to save your mp3 files.
• Change the options as you see fit.
• I used Game Music - Age Of Wonders - %p as my output filename formatting.
• I used - as my seperator.
• If you care about the ID3-Tags, then click "Add ID3-Tag to Output" and click "Tag Settings" to configure.
• Click OK on the MP3 Encoding Config window.
• Click Close on the Winamp Preferences window (Chun-Yu's plugin should still be selected).
• Make sure you turn off shuffle and repeat.
• Now play your songs. You will not hear anything and they will play faster than normal. When it is finished there will be a bunch of mp3 files where you wanted them.
• Make sure and go back to winamp preferences and set the output plugin back to what it was before you started.
• You are done :-)

Update (Feb 16, 2003): Note that Chun Yu's MP3 Writer plug-in won't work with the latest winamp version (version 3). Use the older winamp 2.81 instead.
