This is the final version of this map. It slightly differs from the version that was eventually used for the 2009 mapmaking competition. I prefer it this way.
-----------
This is the update of my map Rocky Divide v2.02 which won 3rd place in the 2009 mapmaking competition. I especially want to thank Swolte for taking the time and giving me great input throughout the overhauling process. I hope you guys enjoy playing this map as much as I do, especially now since it has changed so much for the better (imo). There is even a "story" now... ;)
Known as the Rocky Divide, the grey mountains have always served as a natural barrier in the valley of Kor-Falas. Now, after many years of peace and prosperity, two rival factions have emerged. Humans and Draconians have but one goal, to defeat their enemies and gain dominion over this realm once and for all.

This is a very nice 1-vs-1 map! Later I'll definitively give it a proper comment or rating.
I have a question for KillKenny, though, and since I wasn't able to find your e-mail I'll post it here: what do you think about the fact that Lord Drake will almost certainly start producing Flyers in his home town, gaining a strategical advantage over the Humans, who don't have such nice flying units? Flyers can control the mountains in the north, center and south areas, effectively making Lord Ember a hostage and creep his movement options. |

Hey albinscott,
I'm glad you like the map and I'd be very happy about a proper rating of course!
You're not the only one raising this particular concern. There are actually a few answers to this, one of them being: I usually like to pick a custom wizard/race anyway, so I don't care that much about the initial setting. However, to answer your question: Dracos obviously have the advantage of flyers on this map, but Humans are still stronger. It even turned out that, when Swolte had this map play tested a couple of times for the tournament, Humans usually won, despite the apparent disadvantage. That aside, I encourage you to deviate from the humans vs. dracos set up and try out other races, just stay away from pure good/evil races because your hero will not like that, unless you select peace keeper from the start. |

A good, straightforward 1 vs 1 map.
Initially, I expected the map to be a bit unbalanced towards the Dracos and I still think in the long run (or against a slow Human player), the dracos will gain a good advantage but for 2 equally-skilled players, this map is great!
I have almost no criticisms for this map except for a small point. Both capitols on the surface are slightly north of the centre making the northern route the more lucrative/faster one. |

Playability: 5
Balance: 5
Humans vs Draconians, different choices, units that are not similar at all - yet finely balanced on path of map domination and - probably - a grand finale of big clushes.
Creativity: 4
Map Design: 4
All guards are predeterminated. I'd like to see some randomness.
Story/Instructions: 4
