Scenario introduction:
'In your younger days you were a keen archaeologist, unravelling the mysteries of the past.
You're proud of the work you've done, but lately not such good news is reaching you; many of the wonderful sites you've excavated are at risk from being looted by scavengers. Already artifacts are mysteriously disappearing, and what's perhaps worse is that the local authorities don't seem very interested. Perhaps they've even got an interest in the plunderings, getting a share from the profits in return for closing an eye on the rogues' activities. Something needs to be done here, you've decided.
You've packed your bags to go back to the old sites where you've spent so much digging in the past.
This time it's not a spade you're carrying, but a sword. It's time to stop the scavengers and reclaim history!'

Did you sort your balance problems?
Is this for multi play or just single play as you were thinking about?

Map is both single- and multiplayer. Balance has been rigorously adjusted since the test versions; AI has been tweaked down and the human player made stronger.
I still gave the difficulty level as 'advanced', but I think this map would also be suitable for a beginning player. The map plays out differently every time you play it, though; AI gets lucky one time, unlucky another time. So at points the AI will seem unbeatable, but at other points a pushover.
I have not tested this map in multiplayer myself; I'm not a player anyway. What I've seen is that the sides keep each other in the balance when played by the AI.
Comments by players are very welcome. You can bet I'll make more maps, so if I can't incorporate hints and pointers in this map anymore, they will still have an influence on future maps:

rat_peddler This map and starting story just beg for a capture the flag type of artifact that must be returned to some key museum to prove who is the real good guy scavenger. Likely would mean having to kill the bad guy AI to get this all important relic.

Excellent idea! I hadn't thought of it, but I'll be scripting something like that in an update.
