Family Feud (Titans Choice) is a map that is made to test a concept. The concept is which race, or more specifically, which combination of magic and races are the strongest? This has been discussed on forums as to your favourites, but it is now a test to find the best. I am obviously interested in knowing who wins!
"Welcome to your doom!"
The voice booms out from the void as your head still spins from the magical transport. You look around and wonder what this place is.
"Where? What?" - you mutter...
"You are in the Void and there you will stay until you obey my words and fight! You have been chosen to compete in (Mortal Combat) a challenge to save your homes and your Realm. The only way out is to fight and win."
"How? Why?"
"SILENCE!! How and why are only for me to know. All you need to know is that you have choices to make to how you fight. The choices make the man they say - well that is the key here. You have choices, as do your opponents. You represent your races and you can choose any of them save the one of each (good / neutral / evil) that I have chosen".
"Firstly - choose your favourite. Then you must send those favourites through any of the portals to populate your kingdom with that race. The areas are open to all, although some terrain may not be so friendly to your race - this is also your choice as to where you send your men and beast. If you take an area, it will be closed to your enemies. Be aware that taking an area from them may be more beneficial than chosing a sweeter area for yourself."
"Choose wisely..."
Game Play notes - This is meant for multi play either on line or PBEM so the challenge of the AI is not going to be worth playing in single play mode.
2 Play is fine.
3 Play is better.
4th August - Version 2. Minor changes to balance. Frostlings now easier area. Dividing areas balanced.
4th October - V3 posted. Halfling area balanced to be fairer as was too weak before.

These maps are always the hardest to judge. It seems you will know how it plays after 50+ turns...
What I can say, however, is that although 'this experiment' is not as vast as Blood Brothers, it sure is immense and epic! Upon opening the editor, you are bombarded with a visual spectacle that is indeed very promising. There are large cities, lakes, rivers, lots of ruins and secluded places which scream to be explored.
Frankly, I wasn't expecting an elaborate second level because iBobs had just released Blood brothers! But no, even the second level is detailed and allows for even more explorations and adventure to enjoy. Much to my surprise, there was even a third Shadowland level as well!
I think iBobs has done a very good job in such a short time, with this map. Its completeness is demonstrated by custom heroes (and descriptions), items, multitude of events, and incredible detail on the map (no sloppy areas)!
I am afraid there is not much more I can say but that this can only lead to another dazzling product. |

Thanks Swolte! Good comments and feedback make me want to write more and better maps!!
I actually wouldn't use epic for this map. After Blood Brothers as you say, it was a quick release that is meant for the multi play section of players out there. It actually plays quite quickly and brutally. The start areas are balanced and once you get into it, you quickly go head to head on several fronts with the AI and the other players.
There are few events in this one (especially compared to FF-BB!) but hope people enjoy it.
I actually wrote it as a bit of fluff for me and friends to play.
Cheers

Playability: 4
Good fun since everyone starts out so even - lots of options around which race combinations to go for.
Balance: 5
Tricky to be unbalanced the way this is set up, so it's really down to the inherent balance in the races....which i think is pretty fair.
Creativity: 4
Lots of personalisation of the heroes and locations here, and it's a good concept to start with.
Map Design: 4
Lots of nice areas, good use of terrain for choke points...especially near the dwarves eh ibobs?...looks purty.
Story/Instructions: 5
No real story - no need for instructions, and since I don't want to drag the average down unfairly I will give it top marks.
Additional Comments:
--> Can be tricky to find the heroes in some areas!
--> Dark Sorceresses in towers are a real PITA!!
--> Beware the Ziggurat....

I am really enjoying this map. However, after about turn 225 something started happening which I've never seen AOW do in all the years I've been playing it.
The game would start writing bad save files. The correct size of the asg file at this point in the game is between 900 and 1050 kbytes. It would start writing asg files that were 2-500 kbytes and obviously no good.
It will correctly save the file for maybe one turn or so and then it starts writing bad ones.
If I load save files from earlier points in the game, everything works fine. It also works correctly on other scenarios with way more than 225 turns.
I have reinstalled the game completely and have installed all of the patches including the required 1.4, no mods of any kind.
It's killing me to have to quit playing this right when it's really getting good.
Ever heard of anything like this happening? |

Hi,
I have heard of corruption of saved files that will not load back in, but not sure if it is quite the same.
I cannot really help on this, maybe you can post on the forum to a wider audience.
Glad you enjoyed the map and hope you can finish it.
Cheers
