This is a modification of the well known Rise of Kings/Dwiggs scenario for the 5.0 version of the Dwigg mod.
*A minor update: A recruitment site in the Dark Elven starting area needed some "correction".
It contains many visual (and other) changes most prominent of which are the reworks of the formerly Human, Elf and Lizard/Draconian regions so as to showcase the new Dwigg races (Lizards, Fey Folk and Demons) and their character.
The isolated human island in the S-E part of the map has been "decivilized" into a misty, feral, swampy area to accommodate the Lizardmen and also take advantage of their swimming skills.
The Elven forest in the S-W corner now features more sparkly, shiny and silly things than ever before which has attracted its new Fey Folk inhabitants.
The large underground cavern in the north with its sea of lava is now an even more hellish home of the Demons.
Other changes include different indie. guards and units in some of the recruitment sites, implementation of Dwiggs 5.0 heroes, various tweaks with map items, additional visual enhancement of other map areas, new map descriptions etc.
Also, the Lizardmen received some single player, story line elements to their side for those who desire a more engaging reptilian experience. Nothing to grand but well integrated and enough to enrich the experience of playing the Lizards during the first 40-50 turns. The RAR file includes a second version of the map that has the Lizard-related story elements removed (and the local guards toned down a bit) so that they don't bedazzle the AI when it's playing the Lizard side. The two map versions also feature different map descriptions.
Credits:
Swolte, the creator of the original Rise of Kings scenario.
The Stranger who adapted the Rise of Kings map into Rise of Dwiggs back in the mod's 1.4 version.
Kaskoid who "repainted" the former Human, Elf and Lizard/Draconian regions and also visually enhanced the Orc and Goblin caverns.
Jean-Luc, Lizard story elements, map descriptions and various smaller visual, technical and gameplay related adjustments and tweaks.
This map requires the official 1.3 patch (http://aow2.heavengames.com/media/files/AoWSMPatchV1_3.exe), the unofficial 1.4 patch (http://aow2.heavengames.com/downloads/showfile.php?fileid=661#) and the 5.0 version of the Dwigg mod (http://aow2.heavengames.com/downloads/showfile.php?fileid=612).
Rise of Kings/Dwiggs is an excellent (and one of my personal favorites) scenario and it just got even better, hope you'll enjoy it! ;)

Is this map playable if you start as a non-Dwarf race?
As the dwarf player, you get 3 cities off the bat plus another shortly thereafter as well as 8 gold mines. I stopped playing because I had so much gold at turn 6, the game looked to be trivial.
So I restarted as the Fey Player. No gold mines nearby and 1 unit to go with my Wizard. 2 cities, one which fell to a group of 6 or 7 wolves in the first 10 turns and 3rd city that can barely pay for the 2 units it takes to guard it.
I must be missing something here. |

Yeesh, I haven't checked in on this for so long. :) There's probably no point in responding so late but I'll do it anyway.
The map is definitely not too well balanced for MP play but in single player you can definitely win with any race. If the dwarven mines are bothering you, you can easily remove some through the editor or add some income structures to other races if you feel like it.
Still, the map's balance isn't much changed from its original form as done by Swolte in Rise of Kings. Also I believe Swolte has released an updated version of Rise of Kings that has better MP (and general) balance.[Edited on 09/27/08 @ 03:23 PM]
