ABOUT THE MAP: First true RPG map. A Solid storyline spanning more than two scenarios. Presently only one scenario is designed but work on next will start shortly.
STORY :
'Raznipul: The Demonlord' and 'Anzara: The fire queen' are the rulers of the void. Through tyranny, they have the void under their control. The dreams of conquering the world are ripe in their mind but this is not possible without opening the Titan Gate that separates the void from the World. The Titan Gate magically binds the void throughout and has three powersources / 'keys'. ODROSOL i.e 'OD', 'Ro' & 'SOL' keys are the powersources of the Titangate .If they are moved from their original positions, the TitanGate will lose it's power .Anzara and Raznipul want just that thing to happen. Both of them are powerful in the void but do not have any power outside it. So they also build three powersources in the world with the help of The Nagas, The Orcs and The Goblins. The only thing remaining is to shut down the powersource of the TitanGate. They are successful in doing so ( You will come to know how when you play the map) and all hell breaks loose as demons start popping out from the void into the world. Their mission: Retrieve the keys, the powersource of the Titangate to their masters. Raznipul and Anzara plan to use the powersource of titangate to their own benifit so that they can have a hold over the world also. Now that the Titangate is open, to close the gate, there is a ' Main Titan Key ' that is heavily protected. The mission for Marcus is: Go to the Void, destroy both the devils and restore peace in the world. Some potential allies will help you defeat the enemy in the game.
Please Do not use These Spells in the map:
1) Bind Summoned
2) Shadow Shift
3) Mastery Spells

Hey Sausud. Congratulations on a very fun and definately unique map. As you can see I've given you five in every category, which means that playing ToM for me was very special. I have some smaller issues that I thínk needs improvement, but nothing that should have an influence on the all-5 rating :)
Playability: 5
(First of all - it's a very cool way to build a story, the roleplaying makes it a whole other experience (but still good!) than with a normal strategic map. I tried to stick with the path that you want Marcus to take throughout the map, which is the best way to get as much out of the scenario as possible. It's a lot of fun with all the custom events and quests you can undertake and I really like that you only placed relatively few items on the map. This makes the finding of a single item a lot more fun, even though its a weak one.
Balance: 5
(If I should give a 4 it should be here. Thats because of two things that makes the game to easy. First of all I got a satyr in the start (poppy?), which dominated tons of units througout the game - even cyclops, who are really powerfull. I think you should remove him or replace him with a unit with seduce instead (less powerfull ability). Second of all, after I got the Titan parts the game became to easy. Either you should get the items very late, or it should only be a single poerfull item. One other thing is the final battle, where I recieved help from an über hero (cant remember his name), together with my other heroes, this battle was also to easy. I surgest that you put in som evil, really, really tough heroes (allways hard to kill) and some more greater demons/anscient dragons or something like that. (Maybe 3 powerfull heroes, each with a pet ancient dragon :). The reason I chose to give a five in this category is because the majority of the map is very balanced, and having only few mana and coins to spare really makes the game very challenging. To keep such a balance throughout most of the map takes brilliant mapmaking, so 5 it is)
Creativity: 5
(A very creative and beatiful map, especially the cities are good eyecandy.)
Map Design: 5
(I think if you try to stick with the story, the map design is really good. You can't totally prevent players from entering areas that are designed for later in the story - so if you want the full rpg-experience its up to the player him/herself to follow instructions.)
Story/Instructions: 5
(Good catchy story. I think I missed an event or two, but I all the important ones I think. )
Additional Comments:
Not a lot - just looking forward to try your next map. Thumbs up, and tree smileys for you Sausud :) :) :)

The last words of the incredible story were: 'Thanks for playing this map...' - I say: Thank you for MAKING this map! I know what damn lot of work and effort one has to spend on such kind of a map and this one really is a masterpiece!
I bow down.
There is but one single thing that I really liked to sweep under the carpet but I cannot: It´s such an unconspicuous thing with such an enormous, destroying impact: The use of the Dominate feat.
With this little cute guy hermie, I built up an invincible army of high-end monsters such as Cyclops or Dragons and other stuff.
I´m not sure if this was the intention of the mapmaker and it surely destroys the balance (to the players favour) and the challenge of the map totally.
Short: Things got very easy from the very beginning due to that little thing.
Better use units with seduce feat if you must (I agree, it makes a lot of fun building an army of seduced or dominated units, but it´s a dangerous thing!!). Dominate is way too powerful!!
Balance: 4
As mentioned, too easy. Challenging only at some times.
Creativity: 5
Creativity of the story: 6 out of 5. Creativity in the use of the editor: 4 out of 5 (towns and places were very nice but somehow, after a while I figured out that most places were quite similar somehow...
One word on the artifacts: Most of them are ok and well-balanced (especially I liked the descriptions) even If I have never come to understand the sense or how to use those wands you find all time being a member of the monk society... But the titan artifacts were a little bit to powerful. But that´s OK, as it impacts the game only at a very late point in time.
But this last hero you get at the very end (this Syron guy...) His powers and artifacts were a little bit exaggerated - he could almost have won the final battle alone, was it not for the Drain will and domination feat of some monsters...)
In total: 5/5
Map Design: 4
I still have my unmatched favourite ;-) So I cannot rate any other map with 5 here ;-( But it´s as near to 5 as it could be...
Story/Instructions: 5
7 out of 5 - without question. Captivating storyline! What damn lot of time must have gone only into writing the complete story which, for sure, is second to none so far.
Perfect balance between action and storytelling! Simply expertly!
Additional Comments:
This is one of the few maps, you cannot, you MUST not miss!
One hint from me for all who seek the ultimate challenge combined with a great story and haven´t played the map before: Go into the editor and replace Hermie (the kobolt - find him on 45,76,0 - surface level) by something else (either a strong unit or something with a compareable feat as dominate, maybe a Slaver or so - set behaviour to 'refuge' - otherwise it won´t join!!!!.)
I´m sure, then you will be forced to the limits!
ONCE MORE: THANKS FOR MAKING THIS WONDERFUL MASTERPIECE !!! I´m looking forward to playing the sequel "Lands of Gornia" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very fun to play! Constant shortage of resources (well, for about half of the game), under siege nearly 'till the end, I love it!
Balance: 5
Pretty much balanced. Well, it's actually entirely possible to defeat all "rampaging" demons (which I guess were not meant to be battled) but that's only for murdering bastards like me. Worst was the stack of 6 lords and some minor demons. Took me some time to finally defeat them with minimal losses but it was fun. ;)
When someone is not playing like me, I guess it's pretty much balanced.
Creativity: 5
Great idea to use scripts and independents as "the enemy"! Something I didn't see before.
Map Design: 5
Beautiful!
Story/Instructions: 4
I only played as Marinus so I don't know anything about the other wizards. They were mentioned in one event and nothing else. Wtf were they? Dunno. Maybe there should be more background to them. Also there wasn't any event when I finally whacked that goblin shaman. Nothing about ending the attacks or something. It also wouldn't hurt if there was some non-violent way to finish this. Like "giving him" his ring back and forcing the attacks to stop? Also I missed the magic relay in Shire so the monastery didn't work for me. Didn't know why. Did I miss some ingame instructions about this or there are none? Well, these are the reasons why I give only 4 and not perfect 5.
Additional Comments:
Map was freaking great. So good, that I've bothered to create account here to review it and praise the creator. ;)
I hope there will be a sequel as mentioned in the ending. |

Wow, really fun map Sausud. Definitely one of the best single player maps I played so far. Any updates on Lands of Gornia? |

Story/Instructions: 5
great story, instructions were a little tricky to follow.
Additional Comments:
From start to finish this scenario kept my attention, I finally finished it on my third try. 357 days yippee!! Follow the instructions and you will win this one.
Thanks for a great time. I would have really enjoyed part 2 but that seems to be a pipe dream after so long. |
