ABOUT THE MAP: First true RPG map. A Solid storyline spanning more than two scenarios. Presently only one scenario is designed but work on next will start shortly.
STORY :
'Raznipul: The Demonlord' and 'Anzara: The fire queen' are the rulers of the void. Through tyranny, they have the void under their control. The dreams of conquering the world are ripe in their mind but this is not possible without opening the Titan Gate that separates the void from the World. The Titan Gate magically binds the void throughout and has three powersources / 'keys'. ODROSOL i.e 'OD', 'Ro' & 'SOL' keys are the powersources of the Titangate .If they are moved from their original positions, the TitanGate will lose it's power .Anzara and Raznipul want just that thing to happen. Both of them are powerful in the void but do not have any power outside it. So they also build three powersources in the world with the help of The Nagas, The Orcs and The Goblins. The only thing remaining is to shut down the powersource of the TitanGate. They are successful in doing so ( You will come to know how when you play the map) and all hell breaks loose as demons start popping out from the void into the world. Their mission: Retrieve the keys, the powersource of the Titangate to their masters. Raznipul and Anzara plan to use the powersource of titangate to their own benifit so that they can have a hold over the world also. Now that the Titangate is open, to close the gate, there is a ' Main Titan Key ' that is heavily protected. The mission for Marcus is: Go to the Void, destroy both the devils and restore peace in the world. Some potential allies will help you defeat the enemy in the game.
Please Do not use These Spells in the map:
1) Bind Summoned
2) Shadow Shift
3) Mastery Spells

Playability: 5
Marcus/Marinus' storyline is very clear and involving, and makes for a brilliant game in its own right. Kandor and Wortan both leave a little to be desired though; they seem to have very little instructions, and powerful area guards that attack without any warning.
Balance: 5
The difficulty is fairly high for Marinus, and will require a lot of trial and error, unless you're a much better player than me. Then again, most of the older members of aow2h -are- better players than me.
Creativity: 5
Very involving, and full of events. Marinus' story is almost two games in one: Marcus' adventure on(mostly) the surface, is a J-RPG-esque adventure unique to SM. Marinus' own territory has a more traditional feel, as he has his own wizard tower and must hold out against fixed attackers.
Map Design: 5
Simply beautiful. Areas are varied, diverse and well-detailed. Pushes the editor to its limit.
Story/Instructions: 5
The story feels quite linear. I know that's a turn-off for some people, so I figure it needs to be said. That said, it's a very involving storyline, the only downsides of which are a few spelling and grammar errors(which can be easily looked over) and Kandor and Wortan, which seem to lack a purpose.
Additional Comments:
Bearing in mind that nothing is perfect, this is easily one of the best maps to grace Heavengames in a long time. [Edited on 09/30/06 @ 02:30 PM]

The version I played had some issues that needed to be addressed. But even so: I have to give this scenario a 5 in all categories. A more detailed review will follow (I have yet to download and play the updated version), but, as psykitty said, this is easily one of the top-scenarios available here.
That being said:
Balance: forget balance! You want a challenge, you get a challenge here. You *can* survive, and that is all that counts.
As for the other criteria: I'll have to play the updated version first, but I thoroughly enjoyed the original version, and it can only get better.[Edited on 09/25/06 @ 10:46 PM]

Very much fun to play.
Balance: 5
You can survive and win.
Creativity: 5
Orginal indepth and scope.
Map Design: 5
Great map.
Story/Instructions: 5
Plenty of background and clues.
Additional Comments:
I have a few suggestions for improvements.
1) Don't overdue the poison cloud on home city. Just makes game play slower.
2) Make some of the main missions QUESTS. Then you can show the player more clearly where they need to go, plus help them keep track on Quest screen.
3) Game has problems at the end with lots of lock-ups and crashes. Probably too many death storms and other events. |

Fantastic!
Balance: 4 - Rerated.
I didnt actually meet any non-neutral opposition. I think it is fairly limited against all neutral but still a challenge.
Creativity: 5
I have not seen anything like it. Great.
Map Design: 5
Brilliant.
Story/Instructions: 5 - rerated.
Sometimes unclear and if you scout ahead you can trigger all sorts of events that mess things up as you get jumped. I love events though so big, big plus for the scenario.
Additional Comments:
I cannot complete this!!! I am at last teleporter and cannot get it to activate. I have placed titan key on place to right and all my items (!) on the place where it says place titan parts here. What am I missing?
Rerated - After writing my own single player story map I realise the effort put into this one and can only push the ratings up. I know that the script can easily be broken by scouting and it is bad for the map, but it happens. Balance is still less good against neutrals as it is AI but compared to some maps it is still good.

This is the first AoW map I play which is an aventure-type scenario. Great work !!!
I like the idea of using indies like raiders and berserkers. They are mindless and more dangerous than AI flagged.
The map is very well designed with stories and events.
The very few number of units make the game very chanlenging. I must confess that I lost Marcus once in the jungle near Dragonian city (I lost Cynia there too :( ).
Besides, in this map, you can not mass produce high-lv units like other maps. The only sources are from recuitment centers.
I may not know game story but I don't know why Wortan undead is a peace maker ?
And there's something not a bug not not logic that the OD key (1st key you encount in the map). If I pick it up, there's a storm turn the shire into shadow land, and demons start spawning the earth.
However I did not pick the key up, nothing like that happened till day 79, there's a storm in nomad territory and demons appeared as if the key had been picked up. As long as I understand, demons can not show themselves up if the 3 keys are in their place, right ?
(Yeah, I know that I must pick up the key, that would make more sense :p )
I have not finished the scenario yet (on day 80), maybe other reports later. The map is still worth a good 5* though.
edit: one thing I didnt get, why do you disable shrine of spirits ?[Edited on 10/20/06 @ 08:28 AM]

Thanks for making this map, it's a very wonderfull map with a good story and a lot of nice events.
I think Krotor wasn't placed to be dominate.Because afterthat and the domination of the necromancer defending the Kapontoor. I left the nomad territory with lots of troops that were able to kill those spawning groups without any loses.
Maybe those hero's have to die after you captured them?
Erupted
PS: Also the other to wizards are fun to play, but I couldn't get the orb of light on day 45, I was teleported to another location... |

Extremely fun and creative map. I really like the rpg aspect to it. I haven't followed the satorlyine in order, have been romping all over the place, and dominating heros into my service. The opening attack waves against your home city and home wizard were really fun and challenging. I had to fight off ten or so attacks, and then they seemedd to stop.
So yeah, a very great map, deep story, and very well-balanced challenge--this has really gotten me into AOW:SM again. And beyond the huge amounts of credit due to you, the mapmaker, a lot of credit has to go the 1.4 team that made this patch and a map like this possible;and, of course, to TS in the first place for making a classic that's never left my hard drive. |

Throughout the first half of the game, it was pleasantly difficult to play. The second half was a bit easy, but such is the fate of nearly every scenario out there.
Balance: 5
Creativity: 5
Only real RPG that I have played in Age of Wonders.
Map Design: 5
The map is meant to be an RPG, and it plays that role.
Story/Instructions: 5
If anything, this section deserves a 6 or a 7. The story is very elaborate and detailed.

This is my first review of a map...
** SPOILERS BELOW YE BE WARNED **
I love single player maps but was always too lazy to review them. It's easier to do it right after played, or details fade away quickly :)
Playability: 5
Relly interesting and fun to play this map. it goes smooth and keeps the player interested at all times. I played it straight till finish after downloading it :D
Balance: 4
It's a nice hard map, but I did not give 5 because I think there are some issues. At day 50, part of the realm of Marius turned into water (part of the story) problem is that my defending army was right into it, so all died :) and can't really move before it happens. Lucky me I keep many saves :)
Also, with that single Satyr from start (Dominate) and Trap, I got some 3 TreeHulks near the Naga city, and kept them with bards Skills. They made the map a cake walk, really, heh. But when controlling all batles I guess that can happen on any map.
Creativity: 5
Very creative map. Good to look at and structures, etc makes sense.
Map Design: 5
I never made a map or such, but I guess this is a good one... maximum score here.
Story/Instructions: 4
The story is good and has a good flow. 4 here because original AoW: SM campaign had the Shadow Demon invasion theme... actually, I think such theme is already overdone in movies, games and books, but that's just my opinion.
Additional Comments:
At the end of the map - something REALLY annoyed me - those infinite death and fire storms. Sure, I had fire halo and 2 main heroes loaded with items and both with Death Immunity too, but I felt kinda cheated... I don't know how to make maps/ much less scripts; but I recommend making those storms happen ONCE walking into the invisible trigger, instead of eveytime one steps into the gate of the shadow fortress, 10 storms happen, lagging game to oblivion and killing even heroes with 30 hp... LOL. I know this is near end of map, but still... also, with the storm mayhem, players can't really even read where those joiners etc come from, and Berserking monsters attacking right away doesn't help either. Feels more like action than rpg at this point :)
Also, those poison clouds surrounding Marinus city are really annoying too; I know they are there to weaken etc. but they lag the game like hell, even on a P4 2.2 ghz with 2 gig ram...
EDIT: I read reviews and comments, so I guess these 2 issues were fixed in a map update, though Im'sure I downloaded it recently, that's odd :/
Last, but not least, I could not end the map at all. I placed the titan parts and the titan key into their respective teleporters (left, right) but nothing happened. Any ideas why?
Congratulations on making this map! It's a real inspiration. I am waiting for the next one! :)
