ABOUT THE MAP: First true RPG map. A Solid storyline spanning more than two scenarios. Presently only one scenario is designed but work on next will start shortly.
STORY :
'Raznipul: The Demonlord' and 'Anzara: The fire queen' are the rulers of the void. Through tyranny, they have the void under their control. The dreams of conquering the world are ripe in their mind but this is not possible without opening the Titan Gate that separates the void from the World. The Titan Gate magically binds the void throughout and has three powersources / 'keys'. ODROSOL i.e 'OD', 'Ro' & 'SOL' keys are the powersources of the Titangate .If they are moved from their original positions, the TitanGate will lose it's power .Anzara and Raznipul want just that thing to happen. Both of them are powerful in the void but do not have any power outside it. So they also build three powersources in the world with the help of The Nagas, The Orcs and The Goblins. The only thing remaining is to shut down the powersource of the TitanGate. They are successful in doing so ( You will come to know how when you play the map) and all hell breaks loose as demons start popping out from the void into the world. Their mission: Retrieve the keys, the powersource of the Titangate to their masters. Raznipul and Anzara plan to use the powersource of titangate to their own benifit so that they can have a hold over the world also. Now that the Titangate is open, to close the gate, there is a ' Main Titan Key ' that is heavily protected. The mission for Marcus is: Go to the Void, destroy both the devils and restore peace in the world. Some potential allies will help you defeat the enemy in the game.
Please Do not use These Spells in the map:
1) Bind Summoned
2) Shadow Shift
3) Mastery Spells

Hey zawangel, thanks for the comments. I am very happy that u liked my map so much.
About the problem, it's a problem in the actionscript. I will be posting an update as soon as I test for the changes I made in the map. I'm very sorry to say that you will have to play the map right from start after I make the changes. I'll post the update soon so keep watching this space.

Hi
initially I had the same problem with teleporter, then moving some unit (a satyr) near the stack in the teleporter, the same stack (8 units, marcus and all keys) was teleported against a big stack of enemies
so I'm proceeding with the 8 units in the shadows (plus some units dominated here)
now I'm going to solve the puzzle chamber
very good map and nice story, just some little problem sometimes with crashes, but at the moment all in proceeding... |

Thanks Black Thor that worked for me as well. As soon as I moved a unit to an adjacent hex my stack teleported. Will have to take a look at that script and see what causes that behavior, could be usefull to do on purpose.

Had the same problem with teleporter. I decided to finish game by summoning a creature next to the final location and won the game. |

Thank you for the review. I would like to say some points.
1)About the story, I have tried my level best to simplify the story. Though I admit I should've had added more centreview and watch area events, the map would actually degrade the performance of PC's so I had to reduce the actionscripts.
2) About the balance, If you read the review by Psykitty, the map is for average and expert level players. Being at average level, one can survive the onslaught of Asholo by creating a fine balance between the players on the surface and the underground resources. Even if you are short of gold, I've constructed two places near marinus where you can swap surplus mana for gold [spoiler: you can get gold/mana at that place even if you have 0 mana/gold by continuously moving your units over the gold-mana & mana-gold converters].
If you read the first line of the description about this map, I've mentioned that it is a true rpg where your real enemies are Raznipul and Anzara. If I would've had allowed wortan or Kandor to play on surface, it would've complicated matters for me bcoz I couldn't have predicted their moves. Since i'm using neutrals with mostly area guard and berserkers, I know when & where they will spawn and what they will do. They are you can say dumber than Ai players, since they cannot navigate complex terrain and 'stop ai' also limits their moveable range.
3)I know the pestilence clouds are overdone because of an actionscript mistake, but that mistake i've corrected in my update map that I've uploaded only yesterday. many issues are resolved in the update.
4) About the Titan Parts, you have to place them with the Titan key at the place specified and then you have to move your units to the satanic star sign near the void. the void will be automatically converted to wastelands.
Note: Please play the update map where I've resolved many of the issues and rerate if you feel so. Thanx! [Edited on 10/12/06 @ 10:08 AM]

Thanks for the Review! I am very much obliged that you posted a comment.
Wortan been a peacemaker was just a stat that I didn't pay attention to. That's good for you since you can recruit neutral units also. Now plz dont ask me why I didn't do the same for Kandor.
Now, when you play the map once, there is a sheer curiosity that what item the serpant has? When you pick it up (100% ppl will do it w/o fail) you are surprised by what harm the key has caused. When you proceed in Khanabad (The Nomad territory), it is assumed that you have picked up the key. I didn't want to complicate the script. Imagine a situation that u pick up the second key and suddenly many events happen and you are clueless as to what is happening.
About the Shrine of Spirits:
If you built them, they would give you some unwanted quests like catpure this node, hunt infedils in inaccessible areas and so on. Hence I disabled them. |

Don't know how many AOW2 maps I've played, however The Titan Gate is an exceptional, excellent scenario!
First of all is the story line like in a good role playing game. You get always a task to do where often a fancy item is the reward. I like it that items are limited so they have a high value when playing the game.
Most of the items have their own little story when found. At the beginning your town has no Wizard tower. One starts with an outpost and you'll need some time to get enough gold to build a tower. During that time your party has no spells available (only hero spells) when falling into combat.
I had a really hard fight when I was not fast enough to escape from the demons after finding the first part of the key. Here two Lords plus some lower monsters were getting me in a dead end of the map and my two heroes (level 7 and 9) were clearly to weak for them. If I did not had the Leprechaun in my party which fights the
fight of his life I had to restart the game!
The difficulty level is average and an experienced player should have no problems. The map is well designed.
There are a lot of empty buildings but I think that is by design. Most relevant buildings have creatures in front so that you have not to step into every building.
There are some additional arrangements not important for the game but funny and good for the role playing feelings.
If you're looking for a new AOW2 map. Take this! You get a lot of events guiding you into a well designed adventure!
I think "The Titan Gate" has one of the best stories of all scenarios I've ever played in AOW2!
Thank you for this extremely good scenario! |
