PLEASE NOTE THIS MOD REQUIRES THAT UPATCH 1.4 IS INSTALLED ON YOUR COMPUTER!
It has been one year and one day since the brave new world v1.0 was made available. It was definitely time for an update! And after approximately 10-11 months of working on this, I now feel it is ready for release. There has been a ton of content added which I hope BNW players will enjoy. A fixed version of BNW 1.0 is also included in this package which is essentially the v1.1 version which had been making its way thru cyberspace. The only changes to this version are necessary ones in the unit bodies section of the editor so some fixed ILBs are set up properly. I felt it important that this should be included as well.
For players unfamiliar with the original, I should explain that this is a mod which places a great emphasis on heroes. Developing your heroes is an extremely important aspect of game-play and if you do so you will find they are capable of great deeds. This time around, as well as having distinctive portraits, each hero also has a unique body graphic and gone is the generic rider-type for each race. Expect to battle with great looking heroes who smoothly jog around the battlefield with very fluid and realistic animations.
This mod also is very much a tactical combat mod. The battles you have to fight are much more difficult than in the normal game and you will have to defeat powerful creatures as you struggle to expand your empire.
As players of the original might expect, there are many new and exciting creatures which have been added. Some are beautiful while some are bizarre, and still others are downright scary!
You can also expect to find many new artifacts, new map structures, changes to spells and abilities (plus a few new ones) and much, much more!
Finally I will just say that the mod comes with an easy install (same as the original) and this time around we have included some good documentation for you with illustrated tables and lots of information.
So prepare thyself brave one, for the new world beckons!

Hi Peeps,
I just wanted to let anyone who has BNW 3.0 Beta know that an update is now available that you can get here:
http://www.badongo.com/file/11157467
The update features many improvements and tweaks as well as new things too. Beware of skull-smashing Pinheads whose desire for destruction is so great they may just attack friends as well as foes! Or friendly barmaids who will serve you a beverage to protect you from evil (or so they say). Strange Objects and devices are available for map-makers whose function will depend on the map-makers ingenuity.
Lots of cool stuff that I think anyone who enjoys the mod will want to have.
Cheers!
Kirky

I loaded v3.0 Beta to play The Last Dwarf. Had problems with the Saved Game feature. Have since loaded the v3.0. Should that fix the Save Game problem?
Went back to the Default resource for AOW to play another game. I still get the BNW starting page and at least some of the races have the BMW names (Zulians and Asgardians). I don't know if anything else is still altered. |

Hi Gangell,
When you want the normal names and screen back in run 'Disable BNW 3 Extras' which is located in your main game folder. When you want the BNW names in run 'Enable BNW 3 Extras'.
You should definately be selecting BNW 3.0 to play The Last Dwarf and not the Beta version. The map utilizes many resources which are not present in the beta version and I believe this is the reason some people are experiencing this problem.
To be safe I would just advise you make a new save each turn with the turn number added to the name. This way if you do get a save which doesn't load you can always go back to one which does.
I have been playing the map extensively and and have not had any problems like this. The first person who reported this problem I spoke to and told him he should start over and make sure he has BNW 3.0 selected and not the Beta. I know that after this he played from start to finish without any problems with saves.
The map is incredibly good and in my opinion to just call it a "map" seems not adequate. It feels almost like a campaign for a new version of shadow magic. There is so much to do and discover you will be amazed and the things you do while playing cause other things to happen on the map. It would be a very sad for people not to fully experience this amazing work of art Roger has given us simply because they had the wrong version of the mod selected or are not setup properly.
Cheers!
Kirky
P.S. Thank you very much Kuma no Tsume for the nice words and review. :)
