PLEASE NOTE THIS MOD REQUIRES THAT UPATCH 1.4 IS INSTALLED ON YOUR COMPUTER!
It has been one year and one day since the brave new world v1.0 was made available. It was definitely time for an update! And after approximately 10-11 months of working on this, I now feel it is ready for release. There has been a ton of content added which I hope BNW players will enjoy. A fixed version of BNW 1.0 is also included in this package which is essentially the v1.1 version which had been making its way thru cyberspace. The only changes to this version are necessary ones in the unit bodies section of the editor so some fixed ILBs are set up properly. I felt it important that this should be included as well.
For players unfamiliar with the original, I should explain that this is a mod which places a great emphasis on heroes. Developing your heroes is an extremely important aspect of game-play and if you do so you will find they are capable of great deeds. This time around, as well as having distinctive portraits, each hero also has a unique body graphic and gone is the generic rider-type for each race. Expect to battle with great looking heroes who smoothly jog around the battlefield with very fluid and realistic animations.
This mod also is very much a tactical combat mod. The battles you have to fight are much more difficult than in the normal game and you will have to defeat powerful creatures as you struggle to expand your empire.
As players of the original might expect, there are many new and exciting creatures which have been added. Some are beautiful while some are bizarre, and still others are downright scary!
You can also expect to find many new artifacts, new map structures, changes to spells and abilities (plus a few new ones) and much, much more!
Finally I will just say that the mod comes with an easy install (same as the original) and this time around we have included some good documentation for you with illustrated tables and lots of information.
So prepare thyself brave one, for the new world beckons!

I think im only one who got some realism in here. Why make units which all got same skills than other units? It just make no sense to me. Nothing personal and any other mod but new arsenal got same problem. |

Hi,
First of all on the “dwigsation” as you call it, the only thing this is referring to is the fact that town size is now a factor in what can be built in towns. I gave my reasons for having it in the mod in the readme file. Ultimately though, after now playing the mod more, I also feel it doesn't work well here. I thought people might recognize the amount of work that went into this mod and the fact it was long overdue and cut me a little slack if some new elements might not work so well. Guess not though.
On “all units being the same”, well this is just silly. Yea, a Balrog is just like a Giraffe. If you would have been trying to legitimately critique the mod and not just piss on it, you might of said that you thought too many units were similar or something along these lines. Had you done so, I would have tried to explain that this could also be said about the normal game which has many similar units. I would of added that units in my mod are very much in line with the structure used in the normal game and when I assign skills to a unit my goal is not to just try to make it as “different” as I can, but rather look to the inherent structure within the game and try to add to it. Also, there are only so many skills you can give units, and if the goal is to have every unit be totally "different", you will definitely have a mod which doesn’t make sense!
Thank you for identifying which mod you are a supporter of. I knew you to be a regular at GS and was sure you were part of some clique there. I just wasn’t sure which. Coincidentally (or perhaps not so) the author of New Arsenal also gave this mod a less than glowing review, although it certainly wasn’t as bad as yours. It did raise an eyebrow however, when a short time after reviewing my mod he released his own with lo and behold, a lot of BNW units! I might add he didn’t do any work on them or anything, just copied and pasted them into New Arsenal from BNW. As to that particular mod, well I could tell you what I think about it but instead I will just review it. It will be a fair and honest review based on the amount of work I feel the author put into it and the quality thereof. However, methodology will also be a factor and how people try to make their mods popular, be it by actually working on them or by other means such as seeking to tear down other people’s work. You can look forward to seeing that within a few days.
Finally, let me just say there are some creepy things going on here in the download section and some of it is going have to be called on.
Thank you for your post.
Kirky

Hello I simply want to say that I think that any comment, positive or negative must have place here, but we have to remember that the reason for posting is to help to improve the mod.
Positive comments encourage the people that works hard and free for our fun and let them to know what they have done good and negative comments, always in a constructive form can help to make the mod even better.
I'm saying this cause I feel that you, Munataros, are talking in an inappropiate tone. You criticize in a destructive mode and not contribute at all in the improvemt of the mod and when you say that you think that you are the only one here been realist you are not saying you are not agree with our opinions (a perfectly correct point of view) you are saying that our opinions aren't valid and that's not polite.
I apologize for posting things about other post,If It is not proper in this place[Edited on 05/03/06 @ 03:18 PM]

Thats why we need negative persons to keep the positive in realism. Its not my duty to develop the ideas for new version perhaps but i can give my opinion for the old ones. Never said that there werent any good in this mod. Perhaps mod is one of the best at the moment, but truth is it cant ever please everyone. |

Ah shut up Munatar, we all know Kirky is the best!
Alltough cant say about the units, havent played BNW 2 enough yet. It's obvious that some units must resemble some other somewhat if you have as many units as in BNW, though.[Edited on 05/04/06 @ 02:25 AM]

AWESOME mod. I've tried all the others on here and found them all to be a little sloppy and shallow. I gave up on Dwiggs mod at version 3.0 so I can't really comment on the latest version.
Maybe you could add a bit more content in the next version. Hehe!! Just kidding :) Keep up the amazing work |

Hi Banality,
I just want to thank you very much for the nice review. After the recent hatchet job done here by the New Arsenal mod-makers brother, I was actually kind of wishing I had never made this mod. So it's very nice to hear that someone out there does enjoy it. Thanks a lot!
The only thing I would ask though, is that any reviewers of this mod don't specifically refer to another mod in a negative manner. I know you weren't doing so in a mean spirited way, but I just don't feel it's neccessary to do this.
I hope you understand and again thank you very much!
:)

Dear Kirky,
You are absolutely right. I should respect the time and effort ALL mod makers put in. They are all doing a great job.
The animations on your new units is unbelievable by the way, better than the original units imo. What would really make this mod complete would be descriptions for every unit but I realise that would be a lot of work so I don't really expect it. :)

Easily the best mod available, by far! So much content. The unit graphics are fantastic, and the gameplay is better than ever. AOW:SM has been completely revitalized by your work (and the work of the v. 1.4 patch crew).
I was hoping you might share how to assign the specific unit graphics to a particular hero. You've done an incredible job matching the new, customized hero bodies with the faces, but I'd like to add a few more of my own to make additional heroes. For example, let's say I want to have a cave troll picture as an orc hero assigned to a cave troll unit body -- are you willing to divulge your secrets?
Thanks in advance, and we all appreciate your quality efforts. Beautiful job! |

Incredible and extensive selection of units. New heroes are fantastic and add an element of novelty to the game. This has become my default, and all other mods pale in comparison.
