This is strictly a single player map for AOW2:The Wizard's Throne. It probably also runs with Shadow Magic. However, I have not tested this. So do not be too sure.
The human player plays as Helena. You can, of course, change the configurations and play as Sol or Zorach, but as I have made all the events and story assuming Helena as the player, you will not get the taste of the scenario unless you play Helena.
It features many events, hundreds of custom items, and a beautiful landscape to go with the story.
However, I have deleted all heroes except nine or ten custom heroes, for I didn't want heroes to appear and spoil the story.
The game features three wizards as follows :
Zorach : The Lord of evil. Very strong starting position, with many strong cities, both above and under the ground. However, I have protected some of his outposts with AI block, so he probably cannot do much damage early on, so you get some time to fortify. Still, move quickly, or he will smite you with ease.
Sol : Ruler of the Land of Fawn, patron of goodness and purity. Strong but unsafe starting position. Sol's cities lie well within Zorach's range of attack, so he will have an extremely uncomfortable time all through the game, trying to keep Zorach's Bone Dragons, Dread Reapers and Black Angels from razing his cities. He will need Helena's help soon to survive.
Helena : The heroine of the game. Guardian of the sphere of life and God-Daughter of Sol. Weak starting position, though the safest. She is quite some distance from the Land of Shadow, and fairly immune to early attacks from Zorach. But she has to move quickly, for if she does not aid Sol immediately, he will almost certainly be destroyed, and she will be left ally-less to counter Zorach, which is almost an impossibility.
I have designed this scenario solely for single-player games, and hence have unbalanced the starting positions entirely with purpose. Please review and rate this scenario if you like or dislike it. You may also send me any comments and suggestions to getredherring@hotmail.com
Version 1.1 Notes : Much the same, but I have strengthened the position of Sol, which makes the fight more interesting. Also, some new items and events have been added, including 2 powerful (but hidden) new swords, which, if found, will strengthen Helena a lot. |

Playability: 4
Nice variety and good to explore.
Balance: 4
It was too easy in the sense that your home position was never challenged and you get some good units early on. Your ally is also quite strong even though I knocked him down to squire. (Perhaps in retrospect I should have declared war on Sol. That would make things tough.) However, the end assault was tough; your enemy has a very strong home base.
Adding some Zorach stacks in the home area set on beserk or guard area would be nice.
Creativity: 3
OK. I deducted an extra point because your initial Elven hero is named Legolas and I'm mean.
Also, some of the scripts and mapmaking features were right out of the script making guide. However, I am happy that there were events; there aren't many fun SP maps out there.
Map Design: 4
The map was pretty and interesting (although flat in a lot of places; underground was 100% flat). There was a few bugs with the scripting; there was a teleport that was supposed to take you to Zorach's home desmenses, but I'm guessing it was scripted as a one time only event rather than always on once you had a certain item. My first scout made it through at paid the ultimate price; after that I couldn't use it and had to batter my way through 8 chaos lords...
Story/Instructions: 4
It was done well. There was a story.
Additional Comments:
I ended up with two strong stacks, whihch eventually grew to more than 8 units; One went east and one went west. The one that went west did some important stuff seizing a wizard tower city, but then with the teleporter bug, couldn't join in the final battle.
Having the teleporter underground in the NW corner might have been better.
Also, when I used a Life Storm on the stack of black angels guarding the entrance to Zorach's lair, it turned the lava into grassland, allowing me to pass them. Later my frost witch I was given did the same for the Chaos Lord tower. If you used shadow void or mountains really close, that shouldn't happen...
