Playability: 2
Let me start off by saying this is a cool concept for a map. You start off with a wizard and 7 units, you have no towns, and other wizards are extremely close (close enough to attack you on day 1). The underground is a maze, so you can see islands on the surface, and have to try to work out how to reach them underground. Sadly a very basic outline of a map has been created and uploaded, but it would need a lot more work to make it a good map (in my opinion)
Balance: 1
This just hasn't been thought out properly. It is set up with Archons as the default race, so I played them twice. The first time the campsite on the surface had strong goblin defenders, but the second time it had friendly occupants. That nearly doubled my army, so I went down immediately and killed Serena (who started off about 2 hexes away from me). The few towns on the map also appeared to be set to random (unfortunately this map is password protected, so I can't be 100% sure). Also races with fliers/swimmers, or wizards with a flying summons, will have a big advantage on this map. In my opinion this map isn't properly balanced (for SP or MP)
Creativity: 4
Great concept! Sadly virtually every hex on this map is just a basic grass or water hex with no decoration (such as shrubs, or trees, or flowers, or lilies, or mushrooms, or wasteland, or stones, or snow) so it feels unfinished and sloppy
Map Design: 1
It would take hours and hours of hard work to make this a well-balanced and fun map. Let's hope that this mapmaker is willing to invest that time into it, and upload a drastically revised version, because I really like the basic map concept
Story/Instructions: 1
Appalling grammar and English
Additional Comments:
This map has nothing to do with LotR, and feels unfinished. I wish that this mapmaker would set all AI races to CPU Emperor, instead of CPU Squire or CPU King. Even when all opposition is set to CPU Emperor, they still tend to be far too easy to win
The pleasing thing about this map is that it breaks away from the usual Kevin King pattern of all wizards being stuck in their own square box in the far corners of the maps, with miles and miles of boring trees in between. With a lot more work this could potentially be a really good map
