Galahad_2nd As you said yourself, this map is not completed yet. In particular, it doesn't have the Heroes or Items yet, and those are what would lend a little more flavor to it. Also, there are no Events yet. But it shows promise.

The approach is very different from the Silmarillion map that I posted last month (Middle-Earth in the First Age: Quest of Earendil). Aco's map "Beleriand" is an eight-player MP map using the geography of Beleriand and is based on the general political situation in the middle part of the Silmarillion. My map is a heavily-scripted single-player map that portrays the specific events in the last two chapters of the book (starting with the siege of Gondolin). The geography of this map seems more or less accurate -- at least the above-ground map. There is way too much underground (like lots of other Tolkien maps for AoW), and the huge underground river system beneath the whole area isn't based on Tolkien. Because it is an XL eight-player MP map but Tolkien described only a couple of towns and cities, Aco has invented lots of new towns that aren't in the book. But lots of them have names starting with "Tol" -- that means "Island" in Elvish so the cities that aren't near water should haven't such names. This map of Beleriand is more "zoomed-in" than my map, which is only L not XL and includes parts of Aman as well as Beleriand, but that it is in line with his map being 8-player MP and mine being single-player. Also it is at an earlier time in "history".

The eight sides don't make a lot of sense for a simulation of the book but maybe they would be balanced for an MP game. Having Sauron and Morgoth as separate sides is weird because Sauron was a loyal servant of Morgoth, but the game would be unbalanced if Morgoth were made as powerful as in the book. The Elves are divided into Nargothrond, Gondolin, and Doriath (no exact names of the Elven kings only the names of the realms) -- dividing them into the Sons of Feanor, the other Noldor (both Gondolin and Nargothrond), and the Sindar (Doriath and the havens on the coast) might be closer to the storyline of the book. And there is one wizard whose name I forget who is entirely invented and corresponds to nobody in the book.

Aco, I hope that you will take a look at "Middle Earth in the First Age"; maybe it will help you to finish your map. I'd like to get your suggestions for the next revision of my map also.

Hey, yes, i know your Facts, the Beleriand Map from me is not a Full Copy of the Historical Beleriand Map from Tolkien. Sauron and Morgoth have there own Imperia, this is better to play again many Good Players. This is not the Real Book Version, is maked for AoWSM. The City´s, the Names, hmmm, right, thanks for your Answer, i will changed the Names.
And, the Version here is Old, not the actually Version of the Map, i work......

My English is not very good, you know, the mao, is it in German on your PC ?

News from me, i work this time to make the map right in time of beleriand and the 2th age. I hope to make it better. But the most important thing it, that is a mp map. I work next time on balancing and the points that you show me.
Greetz, aco
