This scenario is very much quest-driven; each of the three playable wizards has a different set of goals.

The story so far...

After the demise of King Arthur by Mordrid, King Arthur's sword, believed to be thrown into the lake from which it came was rediscovered. It appears that Sir Lancelot of the Lake hid the famous sword on King Arthur's person when he was sent to Avalon. When it arrived legend has it that the inhabinants of Avalon cast the sword onto a remote island with no name and had it guarded with many strong foes. When news of the swords whereabouts came out needless to say all of the wizards of the world wanted it. The sword is the strongest weapon known to exsist and with its power one could surely rule the earth...

The players...

--Merlin: (Playable)
--Objective: Reclaim Excalibur
After King Arthurs death at the hands of his brother, Merlin retreated onto a beach south of Camelot to claim his own kingdom. Being even close to Camelot brought back to many painful memories. Merlin's main goal for wanting to capture the famous sword is to bring peace back to the world and to secure his place in history, as if he hasn't already.

--Morgan La'faye: (Playable)
--Objective: Destroy Camelot
King Arthur's famous evil sister. Her intent is to capture the powerful sword to rule the Earth, plain and simple, no delicant story here. Did we mention, she wants to destroy Camelot?

--The Lady of the Lake: (playable)
--Objective: Kill all other Wizards
Feeling betrayed by Arthur, the lady wants nothing more then to gain access to her beloved sword and to keep it secure from everyone else, however she wouldn't ever tell you her true intentions, to destroy all the wizards so that she can be the one and only true magick holder on Earth.

--Gandolf: (CPU Knight)
Known to be the trainer of Merlin, Gandolfs needs are not that great, he mainly has a curiosty of the mysterious sword and wishes to claim it for himself, but not to rule the Earth as most people think, but to reclaim his place in the world of the magi.

--Queen Mab: (CPU Knight)
She wants nothing more than to get this sword and detroy Merlin, her only true enemy. She feels extreme hatred for her son for helping the Mortals out and possibly helping with the annilation of her race.

--Kaeldaven: (CPU Lord)
Nothing is known about this wizard. He has no known history, he does not speak the native tounge. He is, virtually non-exsistant.

My biggest ailment with this scenario is its mechanistic approah. Seeing the starting cities of the wizards aligned one beside the othe gives me the feeling of a horse race, but not of a realistic phanasy world. Once you are out of your box, it is the usual stuff...

Playability & Balance : 1
This map is too easy too play; even on Emperor-level. I did not encounter any resistance from my fellow wizards. Only the independents gave me some struggle. The wizards are located next too each other which makes the game too predictable.

Story/Instructions: 2
I liked the story & background for each wizard provided in the readme-file. There are some events as well, but these things cannot hide the simple gameplay.

Creativity & Map Design: 2
Map design is plain, except for some nicely done islands, esp. the black one covered in green mist. There are some creative twists, like a teleport-trap and the long journey to Camelot. However they do not appeal too me very much, probably because the map main problems: too easy and the predictable starting positions of the wizards.

This review comes from the now closed site aow2battleground.com. My review system there was a bit different, but I've tried to translate the ratings as good as I can.

With AoW2's references to the King Arthur legend, I guess it was only a matter of time before someone created a map based on that story. There are 3 playable wizards each with his/her own win objective.
I found this map ok, but not good enough to play again.

Balance : 4
4The AI players are surprisingly inactive. Maybe they don't like the map layout with all the water.

Graphic details : 5
Ok, but nothing special.

Story/Instructions : 7
The opening story is good. A readme comes with the map that gives you info on all wizards. There are several signs and a few events.

Customization : 5
The wizards and the heroes have been replaced with custom ones.

Creativity : 6
It seems like a lot of work has been put down into this one.

Fun : 5
An average map. I don't really like the map layout much, and the underground is quite pointless.
