I won in 17 days, playing as Archons.
The mapmaker had tried to make it balanced. However, the archons have an elf city next to the water. They can produce a water-walking druid, to grab the gold and the item on the island, much more quickly than the dark elves, then send hordes of druids over the water. The dark elves would have to use the underground tunnel (an orc city by the water, instead of dark elves, would have given them water-walking abominations). I also had a dwarf hero with mountaineering volunteer to join quite early in the game, which I whizzed over the mountains to grab one of their cities.
All fairly run-of-the-mill. The spirit quest events worked properly.

A rehash of War of the Dale, pitting good against evil and adding an underground tunnel. Some custom heroes and items, some events.
Three sentences is NOT a story. Awful spelling (e.g. Nigthshield, Daysheld).
Let's make it quite clear, as the mapmaker hasn't: this is a 1-vs-1 map for online or PBEM games. That's obviously what was intended, or it wouldn't be so carefully balanced. To make a good SP map, one side would have needed to be MUCH stronger. It's obviously impossible for a map with only two wizards to be used for co-op against the AI, too...
Half of the surface of War of the Dale was covered in mountains, making it feel very small and restricted. By adding an underground which is mainly impenenetrable rock, this new map also feels very small. However if you want a quick PBEM or online game, that might be over in twenty turns or less, why not give this map a try - it's quite pretty!

I disagree about the water units being unbalancing, you can create flying units early on the easy side
not that creeative, but doable

Basic two player battle map with water and mountain devide. Not too fast, not too slow
