This small MP map can be played as a Free-For-All, or in teams, with Orcs and Goblins fighting against Tigrans and Frostlings. The Archons are much weaker than the other races (but start with a leprechaun)

Bucklers Hard was a beautiful island, but unfortunately it was inhabited by pirates. As their wealth grew and grew, they gradually took up more and more room on the island. Eventually the island was jam-packed with pirates, and there was simply no room for any further expansion. Their gaze then inevitably turned towards the mainland

The residents of the mainland had turned a blind eye to their exploits over the years, for two main reasons. Firstly, the pirates spent a lot of money in the area, and were the main source of income for many local taverns and shops. Secondly, if you didn't toe the line, the pirate leader Dee Abb Low had a habit of chopping your hands off! However, pirates are not really the sort of people that you want your daughters going out with, and the mainlanders certainly didn't want the pirates emigrating into their shire

The majority of mainland residents in the vicinity of Bucklers Hard were either Goblins or Orcs, who had subsequently been joined by Tigrans and Halflings. They were debating amongst themselves how best to deal with Dee Abb Low, or whether to actually do anything about him and his pirates at all, but they were so involved with their own petty squabbles about territory that they were unable to reach a conclusion. Each had established a foothold on the pirate island, but now it looked more likely that they would end up fighting each other, instead of finishing off those marauding pirates

They were a strange assortment of characters, and each had come to power via a different route. Roger the Rampant had experience of each of them over the years, and was aware of their many foibles and idiosyncracies. In his younger days he had headed various conquests across the shire, gaining his nickname both from his daring exploits in battle, but also because he had always had a stiff wand available for the pretty young mistresses of the shire. Many unhappy mothers had watched as their beloved daughters had gone all misty-eyed, listening to him telling his bewitching tales of his various escapades and exploits, knowing all too well that their beloved siblings would be sneaking away in the middle of the night for a secret liaison with this infamous womaniser. There were some poor fools who confused the words rampant and rampart, thereby completely missing the innuendo and double meaning of his nickname. In fact, it was because of Roger the Rampant's infamous exploits with the girls that *rogering* had become a slang phrase for passionate love-making!

Anyway, back to our curious collection of races and personalities. The tigran leader, Salsa, was a very hot and fiery character, possessing an extensive knowledge of warfare. He too had fought his way through various campaigns, and had worked his way up from being a lowly halberdier to his current elite status. He didn't suffer fools gladly, but richly rewarded loyal and capable members of his team, so was generally perceived as being a fair person. Woe betide the person that upset him, though, as he had a very short fuse! He had helped the tigrans to re-establish themselves in the new part of the shire, and was certainly not going to let pirates ruin the empire that he had crafted from nothing

Lassi, the frostling leader, was a total contrast to her hot-headed tigran ally. She came from a well-heeled family, and had gone short of nothing during her childhood, enjoying the best education available anywhere in the shire. She had a shrewd tactical brain, was able to size people up very quickly, but detested war and all the misery and destruction that came with it. She was always trying to cool down diplomatic tensions, and was generally willing to suggest compromises that would satisfy all parties involved, so she had managed to establish herself in the region through a mediation role, being seen as more of a staesman than a party political person

The Orc leader, Midge, was there for one reason reason alone - his strength. Orcs loved to fight, and there was an open invitation for anyone that wanted to face him in combat. Various hotheaded youngsters had tried it over the years - all had lost. He ruled through fear, and would go to war at the drop of a hat - the problem was, he would declare war on anyone, regardless of peace treaties or alliances, so he was generally perceived as being unreliable and untrustworthy. However, nobody would dare tell him that to his face! There was a certain amount of discontent amongst his people, as their large area of influence had gradually reduced, while those of the tigrans, the frostlings and the pirates had all increased significantly

Sludge, the goblin leader, had been brought up on a pig farm. Poorly educated, he loved nothing more than being up to his elbows in manure. His rise to fame had been through his ability to garner the support of the Orcs, and in particular their mercurial leader, Midge. By bringing the Orcs in to assist when necessary, the goblin part of the shire had gone from strength to strength, and the goblins were enjoying a period of previously unknown economic strength. As the goblins revelled in their new wealth, however, the will to fight was rapidly decreasing, which was not a good omen when they needed to sort out the pirate menace

Let's hope that they can all put down their racial differences, and find some sort of compromise - their lives may depend upon it!

Too much conflict happening too early and too quickly. Kinda cute idea though
