In a long forgotten past the earth was scorched by the fires of war. It was a war between the forces of good and evil. The Archons and the Undead. Between Aberon, the city of light and Dor Valach, the city of darkness...
Both forces were of tremendous power and for decades they waged a horrible war. The Great War seemed to resolve when the Shadowgod summonned forth 5 undead demons of terrible power... They became his generals and allowed the Shadowgod to use it's devastating magic in distant places, as they carried the god's power with them...
It didn't take long before Da'zuul, Rakesh, Zorvath, Zithil and Len'tah surrounded Aberon and her inhabitants. The defense was brutally slaughtered. Len'tah, the mightiest of the five black Demons, beheaded two titans that barred the entrance of the city of Light and blasted the gates down with a single blow..
When the City of Light fell, the remaining Archons fled to the human kingdom. Yet, they knew that the humans would be unable to protect them, but so would the Dwarves, Halflings, or Elves..
alone...
And so, united against evil, the remaining races of the land had no choice but to call to arms. Dalviana, the Dark Elven sorceres allied with the Shadowgod. Yet, greed got the to her and she was caught when stealing Demon weapons for herself. She was seen by Rakesh, the demon. She quickly disappeared and was never seen again... leaving her empire in great haste to save her life.
The four races fought with all they had left, their lives! Defying wave after wave of undead attacks.. Much blood was shed.
The undead remained strong, yet, the elves crafted a weapon of great power. A weapon shaped like a vine.. it was made to entangle the demons one by one, granting several immunities with numerous enchantments on it. The Elves named it: Rauko'atsa, meaning: Demon catcher.
In a huge battle in roughlands south of Aberon, the armies met.. The demons were confident and attacked carelessly. They were mistaken and were amongst the first to be caught with the new weapon. The army of light won the battle and word of this victory spread fast over the land. Thousands joined the army when hope replaced despair. The Shadowlord was driven back to his fortress and driven back into the void.
His former empire was left in ruins and the forces of light prayed he shall never return.
Since killing the demons would bring them back to the place they belong, the allience of Archon, Man, Dwarves, Elves and Halfling decided to imprison them forever. This way the demons could never be called back from hell.. A heavily guarded place where no living being should ever come. Powerful beasts were summoned to prevent anyone from reaching the prison after the allience sealed the gates. A teleporter in Archon territory is said to be the only way of reaching the prison.
Yet, 567 years later things turned out to be different... the Shadowlord has returned and his powers are greater than ever before. Rumors have it he can spawn the Demons from their prison back to the surface.. Time has weakened the Archon forces and the other four race have had little contact.
Dark clouds gather over the world as the first death knights ride out of the black gate...
