Hi guys,
this is the new version of the middle-earth scenario I submitted some months ago on this site.
I decided to rework it after playing it with a friend a few weeks ago. For one thing the Goblinking and Sauron needed some improvements to make the scenario more challenging, for another my friend had some other suggestions on how to improve the map.
The most noticable difference to the last version of the map is, that I added two new factions, Rohan and the Haradrim and while I reworked the whole area south of Mordor, I also changed the part of Gondor western of Minas Tirith to make it more accurate concerning geographical aspects.
Apart from that I ensured to make the Goblinking a more challenging opponent by giving him Moria and all it's belongings as well as a new player model (when I found out that they influence the way the CPU plays, I also gave Sauron a somewhat more aggressive char), so I hope Moria is now as dangerous a place as it is supposed to be.
There are a lot other adjustements I made to the map, however listing them all would give me a tough time trying to remember everything and besides it would be an awful shame if there was nothing left for you to explore ;)
The level of difficulty when taking one of the good factions is a lot higher then in the last version. I'm not quite sure if it is still possible to achieve a complete military victory when playing alone (with no other human players) vs the CPU on emperor. (but I'm probably just a lousy player)
The scenario is still password protected, which however can be found in the thread of the former version.
I hope some people will like the map, I certainly enjoy playing it myself, anyway I'm always open to suggestions, and then maybe there will be enough changes to launch a new version of the map in another couple of months.
Yours sincerily, Eomolch |

Unfortunately, the map is password protected so I cannot comment on the content.
Also, please be aware there is an unofficial patch v14 released which allows for much more content, some of which will definitely enhance the Middle Earth experience. |

As mentioned in the description above, the password can be found in the 3rd comment regarding the last version of the map (which is currently on page 2 of the listed scenarios).
As for the unofficial patch, I'm well aware of it (got it from this site actually) but I didn't want to commit the map to it yet, as reconverting it to the ordinary 1.3 patch would take too much work once it is based on the unofficial 1.4 patch.
However I agree that it most certainly could improve the map, which is why I'll probably make a version that can only be used with the unoficial patch when I find all events and the basic design (mainly geographical issues) of the map to my liking. (I just don't want to spoil the option of playing it with the normal 1.3 patch yet) |

Hoy!
1.4 is worth a try, I 'd say.
But I get your point. That is why I do not
update my map to BNW, UPatch_Evolution, or whatever.
Just check out UPatch 1.4. They did a good
job there.
And I think most of the gamers have uploaded this.
You can do this:
-make a foulder
-load your map
-include map with UPatch 1.4 at foulder
-so people can chooce what to play
With regards
-Nephrati

Less than half the surface is decorated, with the other half mainly being plain water. Only a small part of the caverns and shadow world are decorated. It seems really odd to see a map released nowadays without any UPatch 1.4 content, so a real "blast from the past". Haven't actually played it yet, so I can't comment on gameplay. |

Hey Nephrati, great idea to include two files, one for uPatch and one for patch 1.3.
As I did some rework considering Isengart and Rohan during the last days (uploaded the new file already), I think I'll now be able to go for the uPatch. Can't say how long it will take however, as I have two weeks full of exams ahead. Either way I just wanted you to know that your advice is appreciated and actually acted upon.
Greetings, Eomolch |
