I've come a long way working on this map to make it an intense and demanding experience in Single-Player. However, I never played AOW SM in multiplayer (except with my friends) so it probably wont stand a chance against the wishes of fairly skilled players.
The map is a recreation of middle-earth during the time of the ring-war. But I haven't picked up a certain point of time, which is why some people may find the scenario sort of unrealistic. (e.g. I decided to include Bilbo as a hero and gave Smaug his second chance of guarding his treasures)
There are plenty of things to explore: Most of the heroes have spawning events and some of them wont be too easy to find*. I also included a lot of other triggering-events that manipulate the player's relation to a certain race or enable reinforcements for instance.
The heroes have their own pictures from the films of the LotR-Trilogy (i hope i don't get into trouble for that) and the hero-items (as well as the few, that can be found elsewhere)
have their own specifications too.
The last thing i want to mention is that all texts and names occuring in the map are german, but if there's any need there is of course a way to create an english version as well.
I hope you will like the map and if you find any bugs or have suggestions how to improve it, don't hesitate to contact me ;-)
*There are 7 heroes available for the evil-side and 18 for the good factions(counting the 'starting'-heroes as well)

"password protected: yes" :(
i really would like to see your work, but i dont have the time to play a xl-map and looking for all the little secrets.
it would be nice if you could remove the pw. no one here wants to steal your work or anything. i would just like to see another german landsmans work ;).[Edited on 08/07/10 @ 04:40 AM]

All right, giving the map a password was perhaps a little bit paranoid. I just don't like the idea of being watched so closely (even if it's just my work).
Anyway, if it makes you any more confident I will reveal my password of the map for you and anyone who wants to have a look at the map without playing.

I think it´s OK to set a password for a while and change it after a while and make a version without this restriction.
But!
You could always start a game on the map and use the cheat codes to have a full look at it.
You will not see the background (events) when you use cheat codes but the map itself and all the details.
Use Strg+S and listen to the "ping" then write "fog". After this do it again and write "explore".
Then you can see the whole map.
But rememeber!
Cheat codes are made for mapmakers and only to test maps. If a player use it he will kill his own fun.
Edit:
Now as I write I this I have downloaded the map and take a look at it in the editor. ;-)
I will not write much because I am a critical mapmaker and judge but some small hints.
First: I don´t like middle earth maps so much because no map can fit the true story.
The map looks a little "poor" (landscape details).
"Kann man das hier überhaupt nachlesen?!?"
Yes it is possible to read "this" in game. ;-)
Eomolchs Hero Description ;-)
Hexenkönig should be physical immune at least.
It´s much to easy to kill him in game.
Smaug should have more hit points.
Map Looks a little unfinished even when there are more than hundred events.
I miss wizard pictures from the movie if all heroes have such pictures.
OK so far it´s enough from me or I will not end. ;-)
If you players like middle earth maps this map is worth a look.
Eomolch has spend much time to make this heroes and items.
Nice heroes, images and items.[Edited on 08/18/10 @ 06:16 AM]

I really appreciate your help, cause as i've said: The map still might not seem good enough for fairly skilled players (or mapmakers).
As for the comments themselves, I agree with some but not all of them: First of all I know the map-design isn't exactly accurate in comparison to Tolkiens original maps and descriptions. But besides that there are some differences in the geographical aspects of middle-earth, I still think the design itself isn't as 'poor' as you say. For you should not forget that I hadn't the benefit of using the enlarged possibilities of the map-editor coming about with u-patch 1.4. (I downloaded it just after I submitted the map and was really impressed by the additional content)
You say, I should have added pictures for the wizards themselves. Well I agree, but I honestly haven't a clue how to accomplish that change.
Concerning my hero-description of Eomolch, I didn't even remember I made one, but thanks for refreshing my memory anyway ;-)
Speaking of this 'hero', (and I know the following question might seem very odd to you, but I recently discovered that my map-editor (probably due to Vista denying him access) had some problem saving maps, so I could play my own new-created maps in AOWSM but couldn't find their files anywhere in my AOWSM-folders) did you find the 'Eomolch' beneath the 'Made by Eomolch' label or inside the first'o' of 'Eomolch'? For it might be possible that caused by this map-saving-error, I uploaded an out-dated version of the map. (which might also be the reason, why it seams to you kind of unfinished).
Finally, I hope you can make any sense of what I've just written, and find it worth an answer.
Edit: I just confirmed that I indeed uploaded an older version of the map and also found a way to fix the problem. I will submit the 'finished' map once I've made some more additional configurations (like wizards-images; finally figuered out how they work).
