Indeed, When Pacts Are Broken (WPAB) is clearly inspired on Closer762's epic World of Warcraft.
http://aow2.heavengames.com/downloads/showfile.php?fileid=820

What is strange about WPAB is that, in all respects, the map is more modest than what it is inspired on. In terms of story, heroes, mappainting, and even sheer size, WPAB offers a simpler version.

So why would you want to play this version instead of Closer762's epic? One good reason may be that WPAB capitalizes solely on the 2 islands strategy, which is interesting, and I haven't really seen a lot. The only way to reach the enemy would be by producing a naval force. Also, because it is half the size, one may actually be able to finish this game in multi-player.

It would have been great if such a map would be used for tournaments, especially if it is 2vs2 players, however, the current version would have to be modified (cut in size).

Anyway, thanks for the upload. Obviously, my comments are editor based. I'd be interested to hear how it plays!
Watschenbaum Dear Angelic,

I didn't have the time to play your map today. Most probably I won't have in the future either.

Nevertheless, I disabled the option "explore" (in German "Erkunden") and wanted to have a quick at the map for a minute or two. In fact I spent a total of one hour "exploring" the map by mouse. Your map reminded me so much at the times when my friends and me played WoW together.

I felt so intensively touched and melancholic that I didn't stop looking at the map and identifying place, cities and provinces until my wife dragged me to bed.

Some other day I will have one more look.

Regards + Thanks for the love and effort you put into this map

rat_peddler There is a bug on the event(s) for the teleporter pair from near the drawf city and the orc city. It loops continualy from one to the other, and back again, and again, and ....

The sign near drawf city mentions a meadow

Played well especially for the first half/island.

Balance: 4
The AIs can't handle the water. So not really balanced for single player. Once you own an island it is pretty much over.

Creativity: 4
I like maps that introduce other worlds.

Map Design: 4
Looks like a faithful implementation of the target map.

Story/Instructions: 3
Not much.

Additional Comments:
Reviewed as Single player.

Very Easy to play, Loads of AI placed around but marked as guard not as guard area, so the map is too easy to play. You gain pretty much gold and you can expand undisturbed.

Balance: 2
Play it with 4 human players and try to fight each other. Then the map is fun. If you play it single player, the AI keep standing in their corners.

Creativity: 3
Nice alternative avatars, the rest is average. I have no idea what the circle in the middle is for. Maybe a teleport might have been fun.

Map Design: 4
Basically one level, little underground, no shadow. Plains of unmapped area, blank underground. Work it over!

Story/Instructions: 4
Nice story, signs and a guide at the beginning.

Additional Comments:
Well, maybe some more creative map design might have done the trick. My mate and me managed to do the complete map in 77 rounds. It looks like it was created in one evening. Nice ideas, but a little more salt in the soup might be better. If I were you I would do the independants standing around "guarding" change to "guard area" so that you get attacked over and over again. Then I would have used some more unit spawn scrips depending on days so that you get attacked again when you just cleared the map from Indies. Well I also would have done sth with the circle in the middel, maybe a teleport script to a tomb or so. Sth alike. And I would have done more to the map design. Looks a bit poor if you ask me.

A very arrogant author to be honest. Few examples:

"but then you're gonna have to look further cause I can't be arsed to make another map this big. (I'm not a pro map maker, mkay?)"

You are far from that concept, dude.

"I don't care how you do it, or if you do it, because if you screw up it's not really my problem is it. I have told how to do it so no complainin'!"

...

"Now give me a cookie."

I'm gonna *give* you solid kick in your ****in' ass, fool! If you're unhappy with posting stuff here, then why the **** did you do it in the first place?!

BOTTOM!

Ah, yes and creativity falls somewhere below zero. Every fool can make an outline of some already existing maps from anoher game and then put some random stuff in random places...
Bleak, really bleak.
