It´s only for watching the Map in the Editor.

This Version Contains NO AI pushup events so maybe it is possible to use it for very weak players because the AI is on Auto and very silly and poor.

Story in English:
After years of silence, the time has come to seek the decision.
Will there be light or darkness in the future. Only one side will face a new century.
The cubes are fallen. Mighty races will rise in glory or will vanish from the land of wonders.
It´s the Age of decision. Who will survive? Who must surrender?


Story in German:
Nach Jahren der Ruhe ist nun die Zeit der Entscheidung gekommen.
Wie wird die Zukunft sein? Wird es Licht oder nur mehr Dunkelheit geben?
Nur eine Seite wird in ein neues Zeitalter eintreten können.
Die Würfel sind gefallen. Mächtige Rassen werden vergehen oder aufsteigen und glänzen im Tal der Wunder.
Es ist die Zeit der Entscheidung. Wer wird siegen? Wer wird untergehen?

This was my first scenario for Age Of Wonders I.
Now I convert it to AoWSM, PawelSs AoW I Mod.

Welcome Challenger!

I am The Groll.
Please let me explain what this map is and what it was.
It was the first map I ever made for AoW.
And I am talking about Age of Wonders (Part I).
It was always a dream to transform it one day to Age of Wonders Shadow Magic.
Even when it was possible in the past to translate it with a first version of PawelSs Map Converter Tool it was never perfect and never fit the demands that we all have to an AoWSM map today.
Now PawelS finished his AoW I Mod for AoWSM and now I dare the step and transform this map (and later hopefully my other three AoW I maps) to AoWSM and his AoW I mod.

That´s what we have here now.
This map is called Kayland.
It did not contain much events and the events that are included are only steering events for AI pushup and some small messages like this one.

Kayland was my first map as explained above and it is difficult to transform a map from AoW I to SM.
It was also my absolute first experience in making Maps for AoW I so please be nice to me and my first mapmaking skills when you play it now.
I try to make it as beautiful as possible in this new AoW I mod and I think even with the "poor" mod resources it looks very nice.
Maybe the idea "Back to the poor roots" isn´t so bad. ;-)

Expect some strong AI players.
Don´t expect super cluttered and wonderful painted landscapes because this is not possible with Pawls AoW I mod because he reduced the upatch and standard AoWSM resourced to a minimum that AoW I gives the mapmaker.
On the other hand he implemented a lot of nice stuff (units and abilities) to his mod.
So this map will be a very special experience for all AoWSM players and in addition with my AI pushup events you can expect interesting games in SP against the AI and also in PBEM or MP games the AI will be different from normal upatch AI power.

rat_peddler Just wanted to let you know that I am playing it. I am pretty far into the game and it appears to be playing well. The AIs and the independents have presented enough of a hinderance to give the game some flavor for a poor thingy trying to crawl out from the swamp ;-)

Hi Rat Peddler,

Nice to see you playing Pawels AoW I Mod too (and my first ever made map for AoW I) ;-).
Also nice to see you play the Lizards?
This is what we all have missed to play for years (I think so) in AoWSM.
Lizards was the "star" race in AoW I - for me.
No borders for them. ;-)
Water is their element.
I play it as Lizards to and my game is really thrilling.
I am curious how you feel for my first AoW I map now converted to AoWSM and this nice AoW I mod.
It is a "pure" and maybe "poor" map. No special evenst for gameplay fun (only the AI pushup events and the little intros) but that´s how it shall be, because in AoW I there was no Event scripting system.
So I am very curious how you find my first very pure map.
I hope the Lizards and the AI will rock you nevertheless.

Lots of indies running around provide need to protect one's backside.

Nice design. Good mix of areas and proper terrain for the races that are initially there.

Story/Instructions: 3
Not much in this area.

Additional Comments:
I struggled in how to rate this vs. some of the great maps with lots of events, etc. I choose to count that against the story as the map is pretty static.

The AOW1 Mod works great! I like the seperate launcher approach without the need to configure special resources, etc...
