What is a Guild?
Age of Wonders II is a game richly steeped in traditional high fantasy literature, very much in the sprit of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings series and Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman's Dragonlance world for the Dungeons & Dragons RPG.

Guilds are groups of people engaging in fantasy role playing  in the game world of Age of Wonders II. Guild members post in-character (IC) and out-of-character (OOC) on various fourms and often follow a story line in the tradition of a cooperative story.  The story is created as the forumers role play their characters, much like a traditional game of Dungeon & Dragons. 

Guild role playing may take the form of the best "fantasy soap opera," and creating a living, breathing world where members are married and killed. They may often be at "war," "allied," or at "peace" with other guilds, or they may simply be conducting an isolated cooperative story.
