Simulating A Hero-based Game Rather Than A Wizard-Based GameSend In by: Talon-Thorn (08-20-2002) via e-mail So you want to set up a map where the player uses a hero instead of the wizard? To do this, you set up the event "Lose Game" with a "Kill Unit" trigger, where the player's hero is the target unit. Well, using the "Kill Unit" trigger has one flaw: the unit must be killed by a player (human or AI). If the unit is killed by an independent, the trigger won't fire and you'll have an ugly situation. A workaround to this is: Create a "Lose Game" event for the player. Set the trigger to "New Turn" with the same player as the trigger. Go to the conditions tab and create the condition "Unit in Area" with the hero as the unit. *Alternatively, you can also use "Unit Killed" condition with the hero as the unit. (Note that: You must have the latest patch v1.2 to make this work.) Set the XYL location to some location in the center of the map and give it a big radius, big enough to reach every corner of the map. Make two of these conditions if you have both a surface and underground (one for each). Go back to the event tab and set the condition to "AND NOT" for the conditions you just created. That's it! |
