Wizards and Kingdoms and Things
SHADOW MAGIC MAPMAKING
Things - Resource Sites
There are four resource sites. Each one earns income for the owning the wizard player each turn
in the form of gold.
NOTES:
- These things provide 20 gold* income per day when owned.
- These things clear the fog of war around them for a radius of 6.
- These things are structures and thus can be razed and can be manipulated by
scripts.
- These things can be set to randomly generate defenders.
* See Windmill properties for exception to income. |
The Mine, Water Mill, Windmill, and Furnace
"things" can all be found toward the top of the Places palette.
The palette is on the right side of the editor.

Resource Site Properties
- The resource sites provide gold income to the player.
- Each day/turn, the player
receives 20 gold per Mine, Water Mill, and Furnace owned at
the beginning of the turn.
- The Windmill works a bit differently, in that the owning player gets a
base amount of 10 gold, plus 2 gold per cropland hexagon surrounding the Windmill.
That means a player can receive from 10 to 22 gold per Windmill.
- Resource sites can be owned by a player, and will remove the fog of war for the
owner, for a radius of 6 hexagons around the structure.
- Resource sites can be razed.
- Razing is the burning down or destruction of the site
so that it no longer provides income.
- The site will also no longer be owned by any
player and will not clear the fog of war surrounding it.
- The resource site can be set as razed in the editor. Right-click on the
resource site to pull up the properties window, then click on the "Razed" box.
- The resource site can be razed or rebuilt
during the course of the game.
- The resource site can also be razed or rebuilt by using scripts.
- Resource sites are structures that can be flagged and manipulated by scripts.
Events
Triggers
Conditions
- Resource sites can be set to generate random defenders.
- Right click on the resource site to pull up a window for setting the defenders
at the site.
- There are five settings allowed: None, Weak, Average, Strong, and Random which
randomly selects one of the previous three settings.
- Note that the defender settings are somewhat random in nature; the site may not be guarded by
"strong" defenders just because the defenders setting was set to "strong."
- Setting the defenders to "weak" may result in no defenders.
- The Windmill is affected by terrain; the other three are not.
- Crop land will grow only on grass or steppe.
- The Windmill will turn only when it is on grassland or steppe.
- Regardless of land type, the Windmill always pays
a base amount of ten gold plus two gold per cropland.
- Overlapping cropland between a city or Windmill does not diminish
the income from that cropland.
