Things - Resources

The Production Resources and Magic Catalyst are things that can help a budding new wizard on his way to fame and conquest. Each provides extra city build or spell casting/research bonuses.

NOTES:
  • These things disappear* when the first player moves to the location.
  • These things provide city-build or spell casting/research bonuses.
  • These things can be set to randomly generate guardians.

The Production Resources and Magic Catalyst "things" can be found toward the top of the Places palette. The palette is on the right side of the editor.

Production Resources Properties
When captured, the Production Reources immediately completes any item currently under construction in the nearest city owned by the player. If the city has no current build, two options are offered to the player.

If the player does not currently own a city, then the Production Reources will not be picked up by the player when his armies enter the location.

Magic Catalyst Properties
When captured, the Magic Catalyst immediately gives the player two options:
1) Gain 50 casting points to be used this turn only, or
2) Gain 150 research points to be applied to the current spell or skill being researched by the player. I believe that left-over points carry over to the next research project. Player will be notified that the current research project is complete (if completed by the use of the research points) and will be asked to pick a new project.

Setting up Guardians Both of these things allow the scenario maker to set random guardians to be spawned when the game begins. Right click on the thing to pull up a window for setting the defenders at the site. There are five settings allowed: None, Weak, Average, Strong, and Random which randomly selects one of the previous three settings.

Note: the defender settings are somewhat random in nature; the site may not be guarded by "strong" defenders just because the defenders setting was set to "strong." Setting the defenders setting to "weak" may result in no defenders.
